Sigma's lenses for Canon EF mount are reverse engineered. They're not made under license from Canon.

Sigma can only make sure the lens is compatible with Canon bodies available at the time they are developing the lens. If Canon releases a newer camera body after Sigma has released a lens model, Sigma *might* be able to update the firmware of the lens to work with the newer camera body.

Have you tried updating your Sigma lens to the latest firmware available from Sigma? It's a fairly easy thing to do via the Sigma USB dock, which is relatively inexpensive and works with all of Sigma's Global Vision (ART, SPORTS, Contemporary) lenses produced for the last decade or so. You'll also need a computer compatible with the Sigma Dock and Sigma's Optimization Pro software.

Has anyone had a issue with IS mode not being able to be switched on? My R5 mark ii will not let me enable the mode. I noticed everything I shoot is a bit blurry. I can use the same lens on my R6 and the IS mode enables and all my pictures look fantastic. I can turn OS off or on with the Sigma lens and it doesn't change, IS still says my lens. I don't understand what's going on.

The lens IS setting overrides the camera body's setting. Make sure IS on the lens is turned on. Lens IS and IBIS work together its not one or the other its both. Some 3rd Party lenses may be INCOMPATIBLE please provide the Full and EXACT NAME of your lens. "Sigma 150-600mm" is NOT a complete name Sigma has multiple lenses with that name.

Hi Crystal,

I think you are ok. Believe you told us you have the contemporary lens.

With IS-equipped lenses, setting the lens Image Stabilizer switch to On combines stabilization by the lens and camera.

What FW version is your lens running? Do you have the Sigma USB Dock?

Canon : Product Manual : EOS R5 Mark II : Image Stabilizer (IS Mode)

I think Demetrius called it.

When a lens has IS and IS switch on it, then this is the only switch for the camera IBIS system too.

You can find this mentioned in the EOS R5 Mark II manual in the caution section below the description of the IS menu settings.

https://cam.start.canon/en/C017/manual/html/UG-03_Shooting-1_0330.html

If you use a lens that has no IS switch then the menu operates as mentioned in the manuals. In the event you use a lens with IS, but no IS switch, then the menu is used to switch both IBIS and lens IS on / off.
