EOS 250D Autofocus, LCD, and Live View button suddenly stop working

Hello everyone!

I have a Canon EOS 250D camera, purchased a year ago. But the new camera has started to act the same my previous camera after what I did replace it.

It is quite hard to explain this problem but autofocus suddenly stops working as well as the display turns off. Live view button is not working also. Then suddenly it is back working but after several shots the problem returns. The only thing I see on display is the "Sensor cleaning" note when turning off the camera.

When i connect the camera to the pc with a wire, then the display works ...

What could be the problem? Don't want to buy another one so soon.

Are you using a 3rd Party lens or any other accessories attached to your camera. If so please list all of them.

Are you using the same batteries? The same lens? It could be a weak battery or a short in the lens.

I use Canon 70-300mm and Canon 50mm lenses. And that is all I use.

I have tried different batteries which are all original Canon batteries.

Which Canon 70-300mm and which Canon 50mm lenses. Canon has released multiple lenses with those names. A complete name would be Canon EF 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS II USM & Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 STM. Below are example pictures of how to find the lenses full name.

Canon EF LENS 50mm 1:1:1.8 STM
Canon ZOOM LENS EF 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 IS II USM

I also tried the kit lenses, the problem is the same with that one.

Have you tried a different body. Where did you get these batteries from. Are they 3rd Party or OEM batteries. Also what kind of memory card are you using Full Sized or Micro in an adapter. If an adapted Micro SD Card discontinue the use of it.

I am sure that the problem is with the body and not with the lenses. I use SanDisk 128GB Extreme Pro 200MB/s and it is a full size card. Have also tried another cards, the problem remains. The problem is somewhere in the body ... Batteries are original, one came with the camera and the other one is exactly the same.

Your particular camera model doesn’t work very well with large capacity SD cards. Stick with 32GB or smaller SD Card. Even though the manual states they’re “compatible” they’re not. They often cause problems with locking up or hanging.

I have used this type of cards (I have two) for about a year and until now they worked fine. The autofocus (and also the display) is not working without the card. The weirdest thing is that the same problem started with my previous camera almost at the same time of the year one year ago 😄 Then I bought a new camera but now I have decided to look deeper into the problem.

Only one of the batteries was used with the previous camera too. The lenses were bought with the new camera and also the memory card.

I believe the problem is with the body. I highly doubt that all 3 lenses are defective. Now SD Cards can cause the camera to lock up.

From the beginning I am also sure that the problem is in the body or the software (settings) and not in the lenses ... But what ... I have bee using it carefully and been very good to it, but it still does not to work with me anymore 😄

Try resetting the camera back to factory default. The camera needs to be out of Auto Mode or any other Automated shooting mode. Like P Mode for instance and reset the camera to factory default and custom functions back to factory default.
