I usually use Flash Exposure Bracketing (FEB) and that does have that limitation. The flash doesn't fire or the camera automatically cancels Flash Exposure Bracketing (FEB). I wasn't aware that wasn't the case for AEB.

I am trying to take some AEB brackets with five (5) images, (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) with high speed shutter.

When I press the shutter button, the camera immediately starts buffering, my 0 Exposure is 1/500s @ f/8 & ISO400 in decent sunlight. It takes about 5-8 seconds for the series to run. I get the same issue with recording to either the CF or SD card.

Lately when I'm using Lightroom to import the images from the card, I get an out of space error and the process stops. I've reformated both cards in the camera and have over 1 TB free on my SSD where the files are going. Should I reformat the cards on my Windows PC? If so, what settings? Quick format or something else?

Where am I going wrong?

5D Mark IV, Sigma 50mm Macro, Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB SD 200 MB/s, & Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB CF 160 MB/s

Have you tried using a different memory card. Also I’m pretty sure AEB must be used with Single Shot not continuous drive. Are you using a speedlite if so what model are you using. When I do use Flash Exposure Bracketing it states this.

I use AEB with Continuous Drive quite often. If you use the built in 2/10 second delay timer, then the camera will automatically execute the entire sequence.

I would venture that flash recharge timing as the most likely reason why automatically firing the entire sequence is not available for FEB.

FEB is ONLY supported on Canon's top of the line speedlites such as the 550EX, 580EX, 580EX II, 600EX/ 600EX-RT, 600EX II-RT, EL-1, EL-5, MR-14EX, MR-14EX II, MT-24EX & MT-26EX-RT. But no other speedlites support this even the 420EX & 430EX series, 220EX, 270EX series, EL-100 & EL-10.

I reset the camera this morning and now it snaps off all 5 shots within a second or so with no buffering issue.

Now i have to see if the issue with the memory card image import in Lightroom continues…

Thanks for all the input!!

Art
