Is it possible to record / write directly to an external SSD with the M6 MKII rather than the SD Cards?

Nope. Only if you can find an SSD that thinks it is an SD card.

That doesn't work either.

But with EOS Utility 3.18 you can record directly to your COMPUTER (Windows up to 11 or Mac up to OS 14), then transfer to whatever external storage you want.
