Your camera doesn't support what's called "Clean HDMI Out". Since it doesn't the overlay will always be there and there isn't a way to get rid of it. Other than using a camera that supports Clean HDMI Out. This is not a simple firmware update. The camera has to have additional hardware to support both the LCD screen and the HDMI output.

Hello, I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and recently purchased a Cam Link to use my camera as a webcam when recording videos. Now my problem is that whenever I hook it up to my PC and try using it as a webcam, there are overlays on the screen. If I press the info button I can cycle through the overlays, but I can't get rid of the autofocus rectangle in the middle of the screen no matter which overlay I cycle through. I have tried changing the AF Drive, changing the lens from auto to manual, etc., and cannot find a solution. I also could not seem to find anything about it online so I am hoping that you guys can help! Thank you.

This makes a lot more sense now thank you! So there is pretty much no way around this? I have found that using old EOS Utility software gets rid of this issue but it is very finicky to use sometimes.

There isn't a way around this as it is a hardware limitation. Older EOS Utility software may not be compatible with your camera or computer.
