I recently visited this forum and found that I had the same problem as one of your members, who couldn't get his EOS2000D to take a picture whilst in LCD monitor mode. It would only work in viewfinder mode, now although a few members tried to help, none of them to my knowledge, had the answer.! However the guy sorted it out himself and pointed out that you have to press and hold the shutter button, whilst the camera gets into focus, whereas in viewfinder mode you just press, no need to hold down. The operating instructions don't mention this variation and I think that's a error. It's just a small point, but it's obviously one that at least two people have been confused by, I'm sure there will have been many more.!

Thanks:

https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS-DSLR-Mirrorless-Cameras/EOS-2000D-Can-not-take-picture-with-LCD-on/td-p/457421

But the OP found your solution on the second page:

"I have it figured out. User error...LOL I did not realize that I had to hold the button down until it was done trying to focus. Then it would take the picture after it found the focus point. Thank you for your help. With every ones help I did figure out a few things along the way. Thanks again."

Nothing in the literature instructions, refers to holding the shutter button down, rather it just makes a point of pressing down fully, which is not the same action as pressing and holding until the shutter clicks. So, no he didn't find the answer on the next page.
