I've had this EOS for awhile (a few years) and I don't remember AF ever working. I used the switch on the lens, went into the menu and changed the options for AF, used my other lens and nothing. I saw another post tryed it and it didn't work. Whenever I try to take a picture it clicks like it is about to but never takes it and nothing happens to the screen. Any type of tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Go into the menus and reset.

Put it in green square mode

Outside on a sunny day, if you press the shutter halfway and the lens does not autofocus, something is wrong.

Do you have another lens to try? If you have the 18-55, you might want to look online to find the instructions to pop it back in place.

Otherwise, take the lens off and let us know if you see something obviously wrong in the lens box. You can use the cleaning function to check under the mirror, too.
