EOS Rebel XS (film) No Light Meter

I cant seem to find my light meter within my EOS Rebel X S film viewfinder. I tried to manually activate it but its not showing up no matter what I do. When I half press the shutter, im able to see my ISO and aperture, as well as my exposure. But no light meter to be found

It should just be there.

Have you tried in P mode?

There is no "light meter" that you see in the viewfinder. You see the RESULTS of the light metering system as the aperture and shutter speed combination that is being chosen and displayed.

You are thinking back to pre-EOS system film cameras, which have aperture scales and/or shutter speed scales visible in the viewfinder.

There is the exposure meter used mainly to indicate exposure compensation or as an actual meter in M mode.

That appears to be the manual for the Rebel XS Digital Camera. The OP has the Rebel XS 35mm film. The reason I can tell is because it doesn’t support E-TTL or HSS that your picture shows.
