I'm pretty sure it depends on the lens. On my R5 II, the control ring works, when in pre continuous, on some lenses and doesn't on others, regardless of the mode (M, Av, Tv, Fv). The lenses I just tested are "L" except the RF 100-400mm and the RF 200-800 (both rings worked). BTW, I have 6 RF L and 2 RF non-L, but I don't have the 24-240. You may have a lens that isn't compatible with pre continuous, although I can't imagine why any, yours or mine, aren't 🤔

Hello,

I am using RF 24 - 240 lens with my camera. The control ring does not change aperture when Pre-cont. shooting is enabled. It works otherwise. I am using FV mode. Wondering if this is a software bug.

Have anyone else faced this issue?

If you are using Fv mode, then you need to describe your Fv mode settings. The OVF display should tell which controls to use.

Just remember. You cannot have more than one control adjusting the same setting. If the lens control ring doesn’t adjust Aperture, then it is probably because it control on the camera body does it.

Thank you for your quick response. The problem, however goes away as soon as I turn the pre-cont. off. No other settings touched.

I am yet to check with my other lenses however, I discovered, the control ring does not work when set to "change aperture while holding metering button". It works when set to "change aperture". My best guess is this may probably be caused because with pre-continuous on, the half way shutter metering is turning on the pre-continuous shooting.

The one with the asterisk *. I guess they got enough complaints from users accidentally tapping the control ring and changing settings. So in the R5 II, they give you two options, a two step procedure, hold the meter lock * then adjust with the control ring, or just turn the control ring. Some of my L glass has the control ring jammed right against the focus or zoom ring, so even though the control ring is nurled and clicked, it's still easy to bump. I've never had a problem accidentally changing settings assigned to the control ring, but understand how it happens.
