topic Re: R6 MK II 180 FPS in Photo Mode? in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Hello,

Thank you for the reply! Let me clarify—I’m not referring to capturing photos at 180 FPS. I’m talking about recording a video while in photo mode. The camera allows you to press the red button to record a video without switching to video mode. You can also adjust some video settings, but it seems the 180 FPS feature is only available in video mode. I was wondering if there’s a way to enable it while staying in photo mode.

Does that make sense?

R6 MK II 180 FPS in Photo Mode?

Hello,

I usually enjoy creating slow-motion videos using the 180 FPS feature, but switching from photo mode to video mode is required for this. The main reason I want to avoid switching is that I set a custom white balance, and every time I change from photo to video and back, I lose the white balance and have to redo it again.

Is there a way to enable high FPS recording directly from photo mode? It seems the maximum I can record in photo mode is 60 FPS.

Camera is an R6 MK II.

Thank you!

ranger052,

I don't know of any consumer grade camera in the world that is capable of shooting 180 frames per second in still photos shooting mode.

Greetings,

180 FPS is a video feature.

In photo mode, you can shoot 12 FPS with mechanical shutter and up to 40 using electronic shutter.

The 180fps movie mode is only possible when the camera is set to movie mode. The high frame rate option is only available in movie mode.

For the EOS R6 Mk2 the “shoot a quick movie” while in stills mode is actually a full auto movie. You can’t set shutter speed, aperture, white balance, picture style, c-log etc. The only choices are resolution, compression and frame rate.

The cameras that can do what you want are those without a mode dial, EOS R, EOS R5 / R5 Mk2, EOS R3 & EOS R1. When you press the movie record button while stills mode these cameras will switch to custom shooting mode C3 for movies. Your R6 Mk2 and the other cameras not in the list above switch to movie auto mode when the movie button is pressed.
