I knew how to do this and now I forgot. When setting up my custom shooting modes in C1, C2, C3 I am going through all camera settings for each mode and saving them. But I recall that there is a way to set up most of the global settings to apply to all modes and then just changing the advanced or specific settings I want like shutter speed etc.

I'm sure its a simple answer but.... Thanks

Thanks for joining the conversation, LaneW!

Since you mentioned more than one model in your post, we need to know exactly which Canon camera model you're using. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

Thanks Danny, and sorry. I am asking about doing this in my R5. The way I have been doing it is very time consuming so I'm wondering if some/most of the settings can be made once in photo and video mode and then I just make advanced adjustments for each shooting mode.

Hi LaneW,

There isn't a way to set the camera so that it automatically updates registered settings for all three custom modes at the same time, but there is a way to have the camera automatically update the registered settings for the custom mode you are currently in. That way you don't need to keep manually updated the registered settings each time you want to change them.

To do that have the camera in one of the custom modes (C1, C2, or C3) and press the menu button. Go to the fifth page under the yellow wrench icon, select Custom Shooting Mode (C1-C3), and on the next page there will be an option for Auto Update Set. Select Auto Update Set. and enable it. With that enabled if you update one of the settings while in a custom mode the camera will automatically save it as a registered setting for that mode.

If you would like to view information on updating the custom modes that information is on pages 801-803 of the manual. If you need a copy of the current manual it is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Manuals button and the one to reference is named EOS R5 Advanced User Guide.
