&lt;P&gt;All gear has limitations. &amp;nbsp;Be cognizant of the limitations of the R8. &amp;nbsp;You cannot record indefinitely without the camera overheating. &amp;nbsp;Canon is fully aware of the issue. &amp;nbsp;That is why you are being given a warning, as described in the User Guide. &amp;nbsp;It sounds like there is nothing wrong with your camera, to me. &amp;nbsp;It seems to be fully functional within its design parameters.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;One of the biggest heat sources is the memory card. &amp;nbsp;Writing video to the card causes it to heat up. &amp;nbsp;Recording to an external device takes this issue off the table.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
