Every lens has minimum focusing distance. For up close shots a Macro lens is needed neither of your lenses can do it.

Hi All,

I just bought the Canon EOS 250D Digital SLR Camera. The purpose was to take product photography of small items. However, i find that when i try to do it it's blurred. The setting with close-up also does not seem to work though it says you can take close-up of flower and small items. Not sure if i need to do something more. The camera came with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses; Lens f/3.5-5.6 and f/4-5.6. I tried with both but neither works. A complete novice. Any advise? If i can't take pics on close-up it would be of no use to me as i was told this camera was good enough for product photography but it doesn't seem to do the job!.Help needed urgently!!!

Your images probably seem blurry because they are. Could you post a sample so we can better understand your shooting conditions?

The images are probably soft because the Depth Of Field becomes very shallow at close shooting distances. The solution could be as simple as backing away a little.

https://youtu.be/CisGBAVpb78?si=9z2jD3_0N7EU9ZyY

This image was captured using a focus stack of 10 images.

RoseCanon250D,

As the others have indicated, all lenses have a minimum focusing distance. Any closer than that, and it won't focus.

For example, your 75-300 has a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 meters, or 59". That's almost 5 feet. You have to stand at least that far away.

Your 18-55mm lens has a MFD of .25 meters, or 9.8".
