What AF Mode do you use? Whole Area? Single Point? Zone?

If you are using Whole Area, it's my understanding that your camera will focus on things closest to you, or things that have the greatest contrast.

Hello! I'm pretty new to photography, and I recently got my first camera, an EOS M50. It has worked very well for the past few months, however, recently it has trouble with the autofocus. It only focuses on close subjects with the lens fully zoomed in, almost like its stuck in a "macro" mode. And has trouble focusing on people a few meters away. I have already double-checked the AF Modes, and re-applied the kit lens. Still, nothing works, I need advice on what to do. Thanks.

Is it possible that lens has a filter on it?

What is the model number? Have you tried a different lens?

Thanks for the photos of the lens. It looks like there could be an extra something on the front of the lens. This is what the lens should look like without the lens cap, as in your first photo.
