Isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) is rubbing alcohol. This usually works for cleaning camera rubber that is sticky. A lack of friction is just the opposite. Alcohol isn't the answer.

Maybe you need a battery grip, which gives more of a hand-hold. I have seven Canon DSLRs and all have battery grips because the body itself doesn't give me a secure grip, especially on a heavy body with heavy lens. You may also like a hand strap. I use several of these:

EOS 6D - Refresh rubber on handgrip?

Hi all My brother just gifted me his very well used 6d. I find the hand grip somewhat lacking when paired with a heavier lens. Part of the problem is lack of friction in the grip rubber. I tried rubbing with isopropanol, I believe that is the same thing as rubbing alcohol? Didn't help. Any advice what to try before replacement? Fine grit sanding? Will replacement make a big difference? Considering adding a battery grip as well https://mobdro.bio/ . Thank you

Hey there!

If you decide to have the grip replaced, you can set it up online at https://canon.us/repair
