EOS Rebel T3i not being able to format my sd card

When I tried to format the card I got the error "Cannot format. Change card." But I just bought this card, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Many, if not all, SD cards have a lock switch on them to make t hem read only. Any chance that is in the read only position.

Is it a full size, name brand card? You may have a counterfeit.

micro cards in adapters often don't work.

Have you tried both a card reader connected to a computer and through the camera.

Is it full size or micro with adapter?

It could just be a bad card.

They might just need to get a jump start on a computer with a card reader. Hope it works!

What size card is it. The Rebel Series/ XXXD/ XXXXD lineup doesn't play nicely with cards bigger than 32GB. It will often cause the camera to lockup or hang. Stick with multiple smaller cards instead of a large 128GB card for example.

It's a sdxc card with 128 gigabytes but I also tried it with a 16gb sdhc card so I don't think the size was the issue in this case.
