topic Upgrading from Canon Rebel T5i in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

My parents got me my first camera in high school when I started to get interested in photography. I’ve used it off and on for 10 years and it still works great. I finally decided to do photography professionally and business is slowly picking up.

I know the newest camera won’t make me a better photographer in anyway. I’m just wanting an upgrade, since I’m getting more bookings and I did book a small wedding next year. I’m just lost at which camera would be the best for me. I’ve read pro and cons of going mirrorless. I haven’t invested too much money in lenses yet, so I’m not too worried about starting over in that aspect.

Which camera would you suggests (doesn’t have to be latest model)? Stay DSLR or go mirrorless?

Thank you so much in advance!

Greetings ,

Best overall investment for the long term is mirrorless. Not only will you receive a higher return on investment, but mirrorless eclipses the performance of DSLRs.

Doing photography as a business costs money. There is an initial capital investment if you're just starting out. A full frame body is going to be best suited for weddings, portraiture and these types of events.

You'll need to provide a budget. This way we can make some recommendations.

Adding: if you are going professional, contact a CPA as your equipment can be tax deducted and also amortized out over a period of time. Might cost a few bucks but worth it.
