Assuming the plus 3 is a pocket wizard trigger, then the setting you need to change i display simulation, set it to disable.

Here’s why; outdoors the light is constant, so the viewfinder and lcd show a simulation of the exposure based on the camera settings. Shoot in manual and set the shutter speed too fast and the display gets dark. Going indoors and using flash/strobes the light for the exposure is only present when the photo is made. So before taking the photo the camera shows the effect of the 1/125 f/8 and iso 100 or whatever you set, and the simulation is dark - so dark you can’t see the subject and the camera can’t focus. Turn the simulation off, and the camera will boost the brightness to give a display you can see and the camera can focus with even though it cannot simulate the light from the strobes/flash as they haven’t fired.

When you use a Canon dedicated trigger the camera knows the flash is charged and temporarily disables simulation for you. Your Pocket Wizard Plus 3 is not dedicated so it doesn’t do that for you.

I'm sorry. I've never heard of a Plus 3 Transmitter.

Who makes it, and what does it do? You said you "attach" it. How do you attach it?

It appears to be a hot shoe mounted remote trigger?

Any reason you wouldn't go Canon for this?
