EOS R5 Cracked Low Pass Filter

Hello,

I'm looking to buy this Canon R5 used, and I noticed this small crack in what I found out is the Low-Pass Filter. I'm unsure if this would affect the camera a lot or if the quality would go down. Any response or comment would be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome:

I would be extremely dubious about anything that would cause such damage to a component so deeply embedded within the camera body. This is something that should not normally be at risk, and suggests misuse.
1. Has the seller explained the context of this damage? If it was impact damage, that could well suggest that the sensor is no longer aligned correctly, which will throw off the focusing of any image.
2. Have you, as part of your due diligence, actually handled the camera and tried to take a photo with it?

Any attempt to fix this is liable to be extremely expensive and could well match the cost of a new body. I would not personally take the risk.

That is not a crack, it is a chip. There might be small cracks that will continue as time goes on, like a windshield. Run away.

I think that is a very wise decision, especially considering the lack of transparency as regards the damage.
