I would not only be cautious buying it, I would not buy it. I was a wedding photographer for 40+ years and if he was a successful wedding photographer the gear is USED for sure. I see perhaps $500 in total there.

All,

Have an opportunity to purchase an R6 that is 4 to 5 years old. A photographer that does wedding photography and videography is selling the camera with lenses and accessories. The lenses are Rokinon 14F 2.8, Canon pancake 28mm F3.4, and a EF 28-105mm F3.5-4.5. I can buy the R6 for $1000. The camera, lenses, and accessories for $2000. There tripods, batteries, chargers, and SD cards in the package.

Your comments would be appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Hi!

It would be helpful to know several things to offer you more tailored advice:
What your budget for lenses is:
What you like to shoot:
What EF lenses you may have at this point.

At this point I can recommend as a model the R6, I still shoot with two of them and they are solid, reliable cameras with excellent sensors, great focus and IBIS - the rest depends on its usage history and condition. As a guide, you Canon are advertising an R6 refurbished body ( good as new with 1-year warranty) for $1616:
Canon Refurbished EOS R6 Camera Body | Canon U.S.A., Inc.

However, the camera is only part of the equation. Honestly, if it was me, I would consider the body (I would expect the batteries and cards to come with the camera), and get RF glass to work for whatever you shoot. Those lenses are specific to a particular type of application, and not stunning in terms of performance compared to RF FF lenses available. Also, 3rd-party lenses are not supported by Canon.

To be more specific I need to get the answers to the questions I posed.

If this camera has been used as a wedding photographers main camera then it probably has taken a lot of images. Unfortunately the shutter count that some tools report is for the mechanical shutter or first curtain electronic shutter and does not include electronic shutter operations or video captures. I would be cautious about buying the camera for that price. I don't think the lenses are worth the additional $1000 and unless the tripod is in great condition and from a top brand like Gitzo or Manfrotto then it's not worth much either.

Trevor,

My only lens that is not RF is a Sigma 50mm ART. I have either RR or RF-s lenses. I like to take pictures of my grandchildren, my dogs, landscape, and other animals. I will take pictures of birds at the beach. I would not like to spend between 2-3K. I am happy to buy used.

One of my goals is to put the Sigma 50mm ART lens on a full frame camera and keep it on there the vast majority of the time. Currently taking it on and off of my R10.

Thanks for that clarification.
Well, since you have RF glass already, and you have a Sigma ART 50mm lens (which I assume you have used on an RF body already), and that is the optic you expect to use, then is there value in buying a well-used body with a selection of lenses you will not really need?
Given your stated budget tolerance to spend up to $2,000 for this kit, have you considered a refurbished or new R6II body, currently listed for $1,759, that is 'good as new', and comes with a Canon 1-year warranty.
Shop Canon Refurbished EOS R6 Mark II Body | Canon U.S.A., Inc. (currently out of stock, but they will notify you when back in) this seems a much more suitable deal for you, and the R6II is a brilliant camera.

Everyone,

Thank you for responding to my questions. I contacted the seller yesterday morning and told then I was not interested in the camera equipment. There are some other opportunities out there. There is an R5 with the 70-200mm USM lens and a RP with a 24-240mm lens.

Thanks to each of you for taking time to answer my questions.

Trevor,

Thank you for responding. I have a RF100-400mm, RF 18-45mm, Sigma 50mm ART, RF-s 18-150mm, and RF-s18-45mm. The camera I use is a R10. I would like to buy a full frame and use the Sigma 50mm with that camera. My goal is for the Sigma to stay on the full frame camera the vast majority of the time. Currently I have to put the Sigma on then take it off when I want to use one of the other lenses. I like the RF100-400mm lens.

Probably gave you more information than what you needed.

Hi again:

Not at all, thank you! Well, my thought was that given the wealth of lenses you have and your intent to use the Sigma most of the time, what value getting more lenses would be to you, so you could focus your funding resources on a new R6II. That way, you have the assurance of the warranty and no unknowns about its use.
