Not really, that is why it is an "Auto" mode. Since it does not save the individual shots, there is no easy way to get the exposure for each one. It does work pretty well.

I use the hand held night mode more than the HDR mode.

EOS Rebel T8i How many stops used in HDR Backlight Control Mode?

I have a T8i. One of the settings in my SCN Mode is called HDR Backlight Control Mode. The camera takes three consecutive shots at different exposures and merges them in camera, but the manual does not say how many stops apart these exposures are.

Is it one stop, or two stops? Is there any way of knowing?

If I use Auto Exposure Bracketing, I can choose ahead of time how many stops apart I want the three shots taken and then merge them in DPP4.

Steve Thomas

The auto mode uses some "Canon intelligence" to try and establish an appropriate amount of difference between the three separate exposures. This means that if the image has a limited dynamic range then it will use less compensation for each frame than for an image with extensive dynamic range.
