Since the new cameras usually have an electronic level, it would be nice if those two readings (tilt and roll) were added to the EXIF data. Then programs like Lightroom could give a very good guess as to how to rotate the image to get a horizontal horizon and I think other uses could be made with it.

I think that for some cameras the pitch and roll angle information is saved in the EXIF data already. I saw a post on another forum by johnrmoyer who is also a member here. In it he said that the Exiftool application is able to decode this for some cameras, specifically the post mentions EOS R5 with firmware 1.5.0.

If this info is there, then it becomes a task for software developers to make use of it. It would be nice to have an auto level tool in DPP or Lightroom that used the camera level info.

Nice! The exiftool does not currently show it. It shows 208 [Canon] tags with 24 of those not labeled.

This is the info on the Exiftool page for Canon maker tags.

https://www.exiftool.org/TagNames/Canon.html

https://www.exiftool.org/TagNames/Canon.html#LevelInfo

It might be that your camera doesn't provide such tags in the image, which model do you have?

Sorry you are beyond my knowledge on Exiftool, I suggest you message @johnrmoyer as he knows a lot about it and the options.
