topic Updated 7D Firmware and now manual modes do not work in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

I just updated the firmware on my 7D to version 2.0.5 and after doing so all my manual modes do not take a picture. My shutter will open, but does not close and does not take the picture. My fully automatic mode (Green Square mode) does. I have tried numerous times to reinstall the firmware to no avail. I was wondering if there's something I'm missing. If someone could help I would appreciate that very much. Thank you in advance.

I once bricked my wife's XTi by inadvertently doing two steps in the wrong order. I had to send it to Canon for resurrection. Very embarrassing. Fortunately, Canon took pity on me and fixed it under warranty.

Thank you guys for your responses, but I fixed the problem. First off, I just wanted to say that I DID use a CF card for updating the Firmware. I actually did not know it was possible to do so on my computer till just last night after I had copied the .fir file onto the CF card. I wouldn't go the computer route anyways. To me, it just seems to be more logical to install from a CF card right onto the device, rather than doing it from a PC. But as I had said before for some reason, after the update, some of my custom functions were changed and it was just my "Mirror Lock" that was enabled. Once I disabled it, it works perfect now. Although, I did a reset and have to change all my settings back to how I had them before, and recalibrate all my Micro Adjustments for EACH of my lenses (WITH and WITHOUT both my 1.4x and 2x Extenders) using my FoCal program on my laptop. Just waned to let you all know I fixed it and this was my problem in case anyone else ran into this. Thank you all again for your time and responses, everyone. It is much appreciated.

So I dropped it off at Canon's Jamesburg shop to be cleaned. (It's on the way to my daughter's house in Philadelphia.) The guy at the counter asked me why I hadn't just sent it back to B&H and demanded a replacement. My answer: Because I didn't want to have to re-enter all my AF micro-adjustments!

There's another thing too: I was pretty sure that after a trip through the Jamesburg shop, the camera would be even cleaner than an average new one.

I was using 2.0.3 prior to the update to 2.0.5. I'm glad to have everything straight now it was just a matter of setting the mirror lock back to "Disable". Thank you again.
