Now I know that vlc with the proper vlc-codecs from packman, or Mplayer on Linux work well with the 10-bit hevc encoded mp4-files from canon

Hey guys,

I really need help with this issue because its slowing down my process for a video I'm on tight time schedule for. I recently shot a massive BTS video project on the R6 Mark 2, and as I'm editing I'm trying to view my videos before I put them into premiere. However, my (Custom gaming PC with windows 11) computer says that the codec is unreadable. It told me to get the HEVC extension which I did. Now it just says the video uses unsupported encoding settings, with an error code of 0xC00D3E8C. I thought that the HEVC extension would work, but it's still not. VLC media player will only play audio, with it frozen on the first frame. I can play the clips in premiere, but when you have over a hundred clips it's virtually impossible to sift through them in premiere. If anyone can help with this ASAP I would be much obliged!

Thanks,

Micah

I would suggest trying that software to see if you are having the same issue.

In Linux same issue with vlc, but strangely and importantly google-photo accepts the clip and plays it after processing. I verified that original clip has 10 bit hevc encoding with: "mediainfo 5D0A1791.MP4" in Linux terminal

The clip is here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QVdv4foKjg3MHa7B9
