Thanks. I just spoke to Canon and confirmed the only way to get the count is to send it for service. How absolutely nuts is that?? FYI while I bought the vlogger kit the camera was used only for photography, never shot a video with it. Guess I'll post it for sale w/o a count. Its well below 1,000 anyway, probably less than 500. Camera has barely been used. Thanks for the advice.

Help! I have a like new Canon M50 (vlogger kit) that I want to sell. I'm trying to locate the shutter count and Canon seems to think its cool to hide this? online search suggest EOS Utility can help with this but I can't find which software to download. Im running Mac OS Sonoma 14.5.

Any guidance to what to download appreciated and/or help in a simple way to find the shutter count. FYI I have uploaded a photo taken on a day ago but the data has no info about shutter count. Why does Canon make this so difficult to find?

Send the camera to Canon for a checkup and request a shutter count.

Shutter count on a mirrorless camera is almost meaningless. I would not bother with it. If you want the information for a potential sale, I still would not bother with it.

The topic opens a can of worms that I prefer to avoid. How did you get the count? How do you know if it’s accurate? How much use has the camera had since you got the count?

No thanks. If someone asks me for a count, then I tell them I have to raise the price to cover the costs of getting the count from the repair center. Note, this assumes that Canon still services the camera model.

If the potential buyer walks, then so be it. Saves me the time and hassle of getting it. It’s info that has dubious value, anyway. Not to mention that your camera was not used primarily for photography.
