topic EOS M50 weird noise lines in shadows in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Hi everyone. I noticed very strange behavior of the sensor on my EOS M50. In the video, terrible noise in the form of lines started appearing in the shadows. This has never happened before.I suppose the noise should be a different pattern. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Hi NickSlav,

I do see the lines in the shadows of your example screen shot. When the camera exposes a photo or video frame it uses scan lines. That means each line of pixels is exposed one after the other. In some cases that can cause the kind of lines in your example shot. Typically if there is an issue with the sensor there would be solid lines going from one side of the frame to the other and those lines would typically be a solid color like white, blue, green, red, or purple.

Noise patterns like in your example can be reduced either by using a lower ISO while recording, or by adjusting the contrast in post.
