&lt;P&gt;No.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;That second process the, "+ to zoom in closer" as you put it, is not really a lens zoom. It's only a magnification of the camera screen, like holding up a magnifying glass.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;On the T6i, I'm not sure if you can take a picture while in magnified view, or if you have to return to normal view in order to take the picture.&lt;/P&gt;
