Hi Brian

Thank you for your response. However, the lock button isn't the issue. The flash isn't locked.

Regards

Lucia

I'm using a Canon 5DMKIV and a Hahnel Modus 600RT Speedlight. I have somehow set my camera to control the flash from the menu system. I don't know how to turn this off. I want to be able to control my flash from the back of the flash or the trigger and I can do neither. But if I go into the camera menu then I can. Is there anyone who can help me turn this off? Thank you.

Hi Ludo,

I have searched through the Modus 600RT manuals and identified that the MODE button on the flash is also a lock button. This would appear to be similar to the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT II where the power switch has three positions, off, locked and on. When in the lock position the Speedlite buttons are not usable.

On your Modus 600RT there is a little padlock icon beneath the word MODE. Unfortunately I could not identify from the manuals how to lock or unlock the flash, maybe you can try pressing and holding the MODE button for a few seconds to engage or disengage the lock.

If you remove the Modus 600RT from the camera hotshoe and hold it in your hand, are you able to make changes to the settings on the flash? For example change from manual to E-TTL or vice versa?

Can you tell me what changes you are trying to make on the 600RT or trigger? Some may be limited by the camera, but in general not all. I would also check with Hahnel that you have the latest firmware in your devices.

Thank you for your help Brian, I will check that the firmware is up to date.

On the camera menu system I can change the zoom, flash power, manual/ETTL, etc. But none of that on the back of the flash. I will need to take a couple of hours and go through their videos to see if that makes a difference.

It doesn't work handheld off camera either. I'm starting to think there may be a fault. I simply want to be able to change the mode and power output from the back of the flash instead of on my camera.

If you can’t change the modes in your hand, your flash is not operating properly. You should return it for a repair or refund.

Hi Ludo,

If as you say the problem exists even when not on the camera then it cannot be due to a camera setting. It would be best to get the Modus 600RT checked over.
