EOS 7D Mark II Viewfinder icons all lit

Dear Community,

All icons from my Canon 7 DII viewfinder are lit up and I can't see nothing beyond that, only icons from the camera.

Live view is the only way to make photos. Reseting the camera din't help.

Can someone help me with this problem ?

Try removing the camera battery and powering the camera on. Actuate the shutter button a few times. Then replace battery.

Unfortunalely does't work I wonder if has to do with the mirror that reflects all the icons back to the viewfinder.

This is really annoying very frustrating.

The 7D Mark II doesn't use regular a regular focusing screen. It used an LCD overlay in the viewfinder. Can you show us a picture of what's going on.

It looks like the LCD overlay in the viewfinder has failed. Time to call up Canon for a quote to repair.

I like John’s suggestion. It needs more detail. This is how it worked on DSLRs, which did not have a separate, user replaceable clock battery.

Turn off camera.
Remove all camera accessories. Batteries, media, lenses, cables, etc.
With camera turned on, fully press the shutter and maintain it for at least 10 seconds.
install battery and turn camera on.

These steps would fully reset the DSLR, including clearing time and date.

Hoi John,

I tried for several times your recommendation but didn't work.

I left the camera two days without battery en lens. For my big surprise after insert a fully carged battery and a canon lens (I always use sigma lens) everything went back to normal this save me quite a lot of money, and frustration.
