I just got a second hand Rebel T3i. When I plug it into my Acer Aspire 3 laptops (windows) I get an error code that the USB device is not recognized. I have downloaded EOS utility and nothing has changed. Help?

EOS Utility just complicates things. Forget it for now.

If the computer is not recognizing the camera in Windows' File Explorer as a drive, try:

1. another USB cable

2. another USB port on the computer

3. connect camera to another computer

If nothing works, you could have a bad camera USB port or internal problem.. If all you want to do is move files from camera to computer, put your SD card in an external card reader plugged into the computer (or the computer's SD card slot if you have one).
