EOS Rebel T7 Photos not looking the same as I take them as I do when I open them in Photoshop?

Hello, I have an EOS Rebel T7. I use the EOS utility to take the pictures using the computer, then I edit in photoshop. I'm shooting in raw mode. You can see in the screenshot I have my photo ready to be taken as I want it, but then when I open it on the computer, it isn't coming out as I photographed it raw. Any ideas? Thank you for the help. It might be hard to tell, but they are coming out way more washed out as if the aperture was too high, when in reality I have it how I want it. Photo on right is in the viewfinder how I want it, photo on left has been taken and opened in photoshop, but had nothing done to it.

Adobe uses its own processing methodology and colour profiles when processing RAW files, and this is different to what the Canon software / camera uses.

Assuming you use the "Standard" picture style on the camera you get a balanced slightly contrasty, slightly saturated result. But when you open the RAW in Photoshop Adobe by default applies the Adobe Color profile which is much flatter and less contrasty than the Canon one. In Photoshop / Camera RAW you can select the profile to use. If you browse the profiles you should find some camera matching ones that are Adobe's version of the Canon Picture Styles even though they are not a direct match.

See the screenshot of the camera RAW window where I highlighted the profile box.

Thank you so much for getting back to me! I'll look into this. I actually don't have that Canon camera raw software. I don't see a Rebel T7 listed here to download it? Do you know where I could find that software you are using. Thank you again!

In addition to Brian's explanation, you also have the issue of you monitor brightness setting. You can select the Camera matching profile as you camera in Photoshop and then adjust your monitor brightness so it is closer to how the image looks on the back of your camera.

You can also use a standardized test image like this and tweak your display to get a good image. Concentrate on getting an even distribution of brightness in the highlighted squares.

Most displays come from the factory too bright and with high contrast because it makes web browsing easier to read.

The software in my screenshot is Adobe Camera RAW in Photoshop. (I'm a Mac user but it's similar on PC).

I noticed your own screenshot showed the Adobe Camera RAW window under the Canon remote shooting window.

Thank you so much you guys! And sorry I didn't notice that thing about which raw software I was using. This might be another silly question, but is there any way to save the profile I want to be bringing the photos over to Photoshop in? Right now each time it's having me change it from Adobe Color back over to the one I would like to use instead.

Thank you for your help. I'm right down here in Milford! How would I just set it up though if I wanted my photos to go over to camera raw, I wanted it to instead of automatically coming over as adobe color, make it so every time I open a photo in raw, it starts opening under Adobe vivid instead? Thank you again!

You can set your own choice of settings for the "default" that Adobe Camera Raw to use.

You need to click on the three dots on the right side of the camera raw window, then choose the last option to Set Raw Defaults. Then you can choose to apply a custom preset, but one of the options is to use Camera Settings, which means that Camera RAW will pick up the camera picture style and use the appropriate and similar Adobe style automatically for every image.

See the two screenshots from Photoshop on my Mac.
