EOS Rebel T7 won't format 32GB microSDHC card in adapter

Hello. I have an EOS Rebel T7 which I haven't used in about 4 years. I have resurrected the camera and inserted a new card (32 GB microSDHC plus adapter). I made sure I inserted it correctly and the the write-protection switch is off. When I try to format, I get a message "Cannot format - change card"

A previous identical card (same make, storage etc.) worked fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The use of microSD cards in adapters is not recommended. As you have found, they can be very erratic.

Is there a GB maximum for the cards?

The limit would be how much of your "eggs" you want in one "basket".

Unless you are shooting movies I would go with 64GB max if you are shooting JPEG. Maybe 128GB if shooting RAW.

Set the micro card and reader aside. Format the full size card. I have 32GB and 64GB cards but use the 32 exclusively. Hard to fill one to overflowing.
