EOS R5 photo preview delay when using flash trigger

When I shoot with my flash trigger off, the photo preview instantly shows up on the LCD screen. When I shoot with my flash trigger on, there is a two second delay before the photo preview shows up the on the LCD screen. I have used this trigger without any issue on my EOS R and EOS R7 for years and have never had an issue. Trigger is a Godox XPro C. I have the current firmware install on the lens, body and trigger. Anyone have a solution?

I think what you are experiencing is the delay between ambient only exposure being simulated and then the simulation being switched off when the camera recognises the flash trigger is present and indicating the flash is charged.

By default the EOS cameras simulate the exposure, but sometimes when you are using flash/strobe then the exposure settings are such that the ambient light is eliminated from the shot, resulting in the simulation showing a black screen. However there is intelligence in the cameras that when a flash trigger / speedlite is fitted and indicating that the flash / strobe is ready the simulation is deactivated.

You can set the Exposure simulation to disable in the red shoot menus. I do this with my camera when I'm in a photo studio using strobes as the camera can't simulate the light that is not there until the shutter opens and the strobe fires.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I tried that after your suggestion but nothing changed. To be more clear, I take a photo with the flash trigger off and immediately the preview of the taken photo shows up on the LCD. I then set up my second shot which includes turning on the flash trigger and take the photo. Then there is about a two second delay after I have taken the photo before the preview of the taken photo shows up on the LCD display. I have shot Canon for years (DLSR and mirrorless) and I have never had a delay with the taken photo preview. I am using the same brand/model of trigger I have always used on my Canon's. I have seen some posts about this issue on other non-Canon boards, but there are no solutions. Thanks for any other help you may be able to provide.

Are you saying that the image review is delayed like after taking a picture. As @p4pictures (Brian) pointed out that Exposure Simulation is DISABLED when a flash or a flash trigger is mounted in the hot shoe. Godox Products are known NOT to be FULLY COMPATIBLE with EOS R Series cameras. I had a friend of mine try to replicate the problem with her R5 & R6 MK II bodies with Canon gear. The problem couldn't be replicated with her Canon gear old or new. But the problem kept appearing with Godox products. She no longer uses 3rd Party products due to compatibility problems.

Yes, that’s correct, after the picture is taken. It’s not the simulated exposure that is delayed. It is the preview of the photo that’s been taken. It’s just weird that the same trigger has not had any issues with three other prior canon cameras, including DSLR and mirrorless. I guess that must be it.

If you set the trigger to legacy mode it will work just fine, but you will lose TTL and HSS. This problem doesn't have anything to do with exposure sim, it happens regardless of whether exposure sim is on or off, even on the R5 II which has had firmware update to address exposure sim and flash behavior.
