Happy with EOS R6 ISO Performance

Just got an R6 as my first FF camera and am amazed at the ISO performance. I’ve been using an R7 for wildlife photography for some time and anytime the ISO crept upwards of ~3000 the noise would start to degrade the IQ a bit, at 6400 photos were typically unusable, but quickly testing the R6 I’ve pushed it to 10000 and still have really good IQ! Just posting to share my excitement

I know what you mean about the difference between EOS R6 and EOS R7 high ISO performance. I shot some speedway racing in the UK with the two cameras. These races take place in the evening and are not brightly lit, so as the sunsets it gets dark. ISO 12,800 on the two cameras is a very clear difference and it just gets more noticeable as the ISO increases.

I do find that Lightroom Denoise feature works well on both cameras images at high ISO, but the R6 with it's much larger pixels is inherently much more light sensitive than the EOS R7.

It is probably the dinner plate sized pixels on the R6.

A full size 20MP sensor vs a 32 MP APS-C.

With the EOS R7 pixel size it would be 80MP resolution on full-frame, so the EOS R6 pixels have 4x the area.
