Tips for Shooting Eclipse with EOS Rebel T5

Planning to use my Cannon Rebel T5 and 75-300mm lens I used for the 2017 partial eclipse to shoot next week's partial eclipse. My previous shooting experience technically didn't turn out what I expect let alone camera, lens, tripod and a welder mask at the time I lacked certain items. But lately I have been making some improvements with the addition of glasses and intervalometer while on a tight budget. However, I don't have time to afford a couple other very important items.

To anybody who shot the 2017 eclipse with the same camera like I have, what settings and filters did you use? And how did you see the eclipse in the camera since there is no moveable screen?

It is probably too late to get a filter, but you need a solar filter to cover the whole lens.

There are any number of articles on this site with details and advice. Exposure depends on your filter and lens. It is best to get out there early and practice.
