No exposure simulation can't predict flash photography. Therefore is DISABLED and the ambient lighting is shown on the EVF or rear LCD screen.

When using the R6 Mark II with an on camera flash (EL-5) or trigger (ST-E10), Exp.SIM is greyed out like it should be. Is there a way to activate this so I can set exposure for the backgrounds. The display is very bright and stays the same no matter what exposure setting I change. I want to expose my shots normally before using my flash. I would like to use my strobes outdoors, although I can't get past this. Is there a way to expose normally without turning my flash trigger off?

Thanks for quick reply but, I can not see the ambient exposure. I see where this is done with R5 and R6 (Focus Cluster button, followed by the Set button), as shown in the video below. Around 2:21 in the video, is exactly what I'm asking but for the R6 mkII. So, shooting outside, I want a preview of the ambient light without having to turn my flash of all the time. Anyway to do this?

Canon R5/R6 Flash Exposure Simulation Explanation & Shortcut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjWVEQbdi40

I see what is happening in the EOS R5/R6 in the video that you shared. The EOS R6 Mark II doesn't support that combination of button presses. The only way to do something similar is to use a customised button to toggle the flash firing on/off. I have just tried this on my EOS R6 Mark II and by using the AF selection button reconfigured with flash firing function I can toggle exposure simulation on/off. In effect doing this means that you are using the button to tell the camera not to fire the flash, so you have to press it once to enable the simulation and again to reactivate the flash.

The flash firing function can be assigned to most of the buttons around the camera.

Thanks so much! This works for me. Now I can set exposure for the background, before using flash. Thanks again.
