Do you have a local camera shop on that side of the pond that sells Canon gear? They might be the ones to ask about getting Canon parts in the UK.

UK query but there does not seem to be a UK forum

The plastic cover over the sockets on the side of the camera has come loose, the plastic "hinge" has broken.

I tried asking Canon but they just say to send the camera to the repair agent, but all I need is a small plastic cover which should be easy to fit.

Any idea where I could just get the spare part?

Not near me!

I will try asking the recognised repair company if they would supply a simple spare like that but thought I would ask first in case anyone in the UK knew anywhere.

MB

I recall that H. Lehmann Ltd in Stoke on Trent usually can supply spare parts and are also authorised Canon repairers

Thanks I will give them a try.

A Google search shows quite a lot of spares around but most tend to be from China which I never trust.

MB

I have a 6D and just took a look. There are two port covers. My question is whether you can easily remove what's left in the camera after one of them breaks and pop in a replacement without some disassembly.

What looks like it should be a simple fix doesn't always work out that way.

Yes there are two halves, I think there was a small piece of rubber / plastic them togethet.

They appear to be held in place by a rubber / plastic peg that pushes into a hole.

It might be tricky to replace but I would like to try first to save the hassle of finding a box, packing up and the cost of the repair. Also means I am not without the camera for week (I do have other cameras).
