topic EOS R5 - HELP - How to turn off auto exposure on video in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Hey There,

I have an R5 which has been serving me really well, with one small exception... When I am recording video, I can not seem to be able to stop the camera from correcting the exposure. I have googled, I have read the manual, I have watched videos.... I want to be able to choose the exposure and then have it stay stable, regardless of back lighting, shadows, etc.... Currently, I focus on the subject, but as I move around or the scene changes, the exposure will fluctuate by anywhere from 1-3 stops if there is a strong back light, or spot light anywhere on Frame.

I tried changing my metering ... to spot metering... I have tried starting a custom video setting from scratch..

Any ideas what I need to change in order to achieve this?

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forums!

What shooting mode setting are you using? P, Av, Tv, or M?

If exposure is automatically adjusting itself, then one or more legs of the Exposure Triangle is in an automatic mode. Using the M mode, manual exposure, then the camera is not able to adjust exposure. You would have complete control over it.

Thanks so much for the reply!

It was shooting in Manual... however, when I hit record it was defaulting CP3 which has autoISO... Got it re-customized - Thank you for that!

~S
