EOS R6 set for 1 AF point but multiple AF points still show up

When i am in manual, TV or AV modes and have focus point selection set to 1 point AF

When i half press the shutter button i am getting multiple focus points appear, (as if im am in auto mode)

You must have one or more of the tracking modes enabled. Your single AF point is serving as a starting point.

Firstly please can you tell us if you are using ONE SHOT or SERVO AF.

You mention EOS R6 in the title, and if so then it appears that you have Face Detection & Tracking AF with an initial AF point, as this appears similar to 1-point AF.

First check the AF method on the AF1 menu to make sure you don't have Face + Tracking selected. Then take look at the Initial Servo AF pt for "face +tracking" setting on AF5 menu, if this is not set to auto then you will see what looks like a single AF point but, in fact it is the initial AF point, and once you initiate focus then other AF points may illuminate.

If your camera is actually an EOS R6 Mark II, then you have Whole area tracking Servo AF set to ON and are using AI FOCUS or SERVO AF. Look at the first AF menu and turn While area tracking Servo AF to OFF.
