EOS 1200D Main dial changes image brightness in video mode

Hello!

Moving the main dial (see pic below) while in Video Mode, appears to change the 'brightness' of the video. This is not related to ISO, Aperture or any of the usual settings.

The numerical range for this Setting is 30 to 800, with 30 being the brightest and 800 the darkest.

I was wondering what this setting is and what it is called.

I'm pretty sure that is how you can adjust your shutter speed. Your camera can take videos at different frame rates like 24 frames per second and 30 frames per second, but each frame has to be exposed to the light for a certain amount of time. For a "natural" sense of movement, most people recommend setting a shutter speed at 2 X your frame rate., i.e. setting shutter speed of 1/60th when shooting at 30 frames per second.

However, you can adjust that shutter speed up or down if you want to make it a little brighter, or a little darker.

In movie mode, the main dial can control different aspects of exposure.

Shutter Speed

Exposure Compensation

Aperture

ISO

You can review the manual to see which.

All these cameras were similar. You cann the T6 and T7 to the list, too.
