EOS Rebel T100 Videos not uploading to iPhone

Hi ! I have a Canon Rebel T100, and so far it has been great! Im not sure if anyone has asked and/or answered this, but whenever I try to upload my videos to my iPhone, it says “This movie format is not supported”. I even tried uploading one at a time, but it doesn’t work. I have no problem uploading photos though. Can anyone help ?!!?

The MOV format is not supported by Apple iOS despite the fact that Apple may have created it.

The VLC Media Player is able to play MOV files. I do not know if installing it would add support for the file type. I suspect that it depends upon where the MOV video files are stored.

Such videos from older consumer cameras will need to be converted to sharable formats. The two most popular being MPEG H.264 or HEVC H.265.

The actual contents of a MOV can be almost anything to include MPEG. However, your camera is most likely using some older codec that is not compatible with iPhones.

You'd need to import the videos to a computer, then export those videos in a suitable format before being able to view them on your iPhone.

You can either take the card out of your camera, and using a card reader, either copy or move the the file to your computer's hard drive; or connect your camera to your computer with a USB cable and use Canon's EOS Utility program to download it to your computer.

Once it's there, you can use a video converter program to convert it to something like MP4, which your phone can use.

As I sit here, I'm not sure how you would transfer the converted video from your computer to your phone. Maybe you could upload it to a video sharing service like Vimeo or Dropbox.
