Canon rebel t7 digital zoom problem

Hi I bought this camera about a year ago and haven’t used it for about 6 months. I noticed that I’ve tried to use the digital zoom to take photos and it zooms back out of digital zoom and takes the picture. What am I doing wrong?

Digital zoom is only for getting a better look at your subject and fine tuning focus. You can not take a photo when using that feature.

We can suggest longer lenses if you need it. How long of a lens depends on what you're shooting and your budget. Digital zoom CAN NOT be used when taking pictures.
