Yes that is correct. Cameras that have an LCD overlay in the viewfinder don't allow you to change focusing screens. Except for 1D series cameras which do allow the user to change focusing screens.

Saw a hair like dust on the viewfinder, turns out it looks like a scratch on the focusing screen since it didn’t get removed by using a cotton swab dab. Haven’t tried a rocket blower yet but is there any specific type of focusing screen for the 77D?

What do you mean by "specific type"? Do you mean replaceable?

The manual just says "Focusing screen: Fixed, Precision Matte", so I don't think so.

Your camera doesn't use a regular focusing screen. Instead it uses an LCD overlay in the viewfinder which allows the camera to show more info in the viewfinder. Thus interchangeable focusing screens aren't available for your camera. Also if there isn't a battery in the camera the viewfinder will darken by about 2 stops. This IS NORMAL when a battery IS NOT in the camera.

A scratch or dirt on the focusing screen (YES, it has one!) will not affect picture-taking. It only shows up in the viewfinder. So you can continue using the camera just fine.

The overlay that deebateman316 mentioned is an overlay ON the focusing screen.
