Camera Says Update File Could Not Be Found

This afternoon I wanted to use my camera and it started on the screen that, the update file could not be found. Please check the memory card reload the battery and try again.

I have fully charged the battery and formatted the memory card as well.

On that note how can I fix this issue, please?

Welcome to the forum. Tell us which camera model you are using. Thanks, ahead of time.

Have you recently tried to update the camera firmware? Cameras should not present that type of message, not unless they have detected a firmware file on the memory card?

I suggest that you remove the memory card. Power up the camera. Reset the camera back to its factory default settings.

It might be helpful if you tell us what camera model you're using and the steps that you performed for the upgrade.

The firmware update files come in zip format for Windows and.dmg for Mac. Both of them have to be uncompressed or unzipped in order to see the firmware .FIR file.

The fir file is the cameras firmware. It is the file that needs to be put in the root of a freshly formatted SD card. The other files included are PDF instructions in various languages.

Its possible you did not open the file and copy the .fir file to the card. A card reader is optional but is also a great way to do this.

If you are experiencing camera problems, it is a bad idea to try a FW update. Fix the camera issues first before you do any FW update. Also a good idea to check what the FW update corrects. It may be something that doesn't effect how you use the camera. FW updates a cumulative so if a newer one comes out later on that does fix something you want, you will get all of them in the one FW update.
