Can you provide an example of the distortion?

I've never used Whats App, so don't know how it handles photos. It's possible that the images you've taken are very high resolution and would be scaled down tremendously by the app. When sharing to social media, it's often best to output your images to a lower resolution (see each app's help or other documentation that hopefully will share what common resolutions would be).

Then, ensure that when downscaling, the pixels will be resampled correctly. You may additionally need to add in some extra sharpening. This can be handled by applications such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. Other image editing software may also have good downscaling algorithms as well.
