Hi! I just took some photos for friends and I noticed I am having some terrible issues with quality. I am looking into trying to import the SD card to see if the image quality improves. They looked fine on my camera but when I transferred them from my app to my smart phone the resolution is very blurry and looks awful! Any ideas what's up with this or where to start to begin to fix this?

Your resolution of the posted images is very low. Something maybe compressing them to save storage space inside of your phone as they are being transferred.

Try looking the images on a computer, if you still can. These images seem to be well over a year old.

Your iPhone's screen would have much higher resolution than the rear screen of your Rebel T7i. Thus, it could be revealing issues such as blurriness.

On your Rebel, bring up the images one by one and magnify them to see if they are also blurry. See page 337 of the User Manual for magnification instructions.

If the magnified images are also looking good there, it could be that the transferred photos lost quality as Waddizzle points out.

Hi again- up late working. I went and bought an SD card reader for my computer and uploaded some of the raw image files if someone would be curious enough to take a look and offer some advice!

https://file.io/4O2tdYf8dOv7

These look better on my computer but zoomed in the quality still looks pretty blurry. Not sure that that's normal or would even be good enough to print. 😞 Any thoughts? Thank you!

https://file.io/4O2tdYf8dOv7

Thank you for replying again. Yes These are the direct files that are coming off the SD card from my Canon. Is there a way to change that? I've already looked at the 'resize' feature but for some reason it isn't displaying any of these recent photos as eligible for that.

Hmm, something is amiss. Even if you've set your camera to use "S2" image quality (see pages 146 and 147 of the User Manual), that should still give you about a 4 megapixel image. 480 x 720 is only about a one-third megapixels (12 times less resolution).

So first check what your camera is set to capture images at. They should be stored on the SD card in that resolution. Also, recommend capturing in either RAW or RAW+JPEG (RAW would always be the highest 24 megapixel resolution along with allowing maximum flexibility of editing).

How did you transfer the images off of the SD card? What was the destination of the images? Perhaps that process reduced the image sizes of your photos along the way.
