Hi

Just starting with a Canon r7. Using a Godox TT350c flash, when I take a photo in full auto, the camera chooses the same settings whether I use flash or not, and with flash seems to always choose ISO 6400. Is this normal behavior? Is it because I'm not using aCanon flash?

When using my t3i, when using flash it chooses a faster shutter speed and usually changes aperture as well, adjusting to the fact the flash is there. It seems to always choose ISO 400 though.

Thanks!

AJM

Older cameras defaulted to ISO 400 for flash. The newer R Series bodies don't do this.

So it seems the camera basically doesn't adjust for flash? It appears that ISO, aperture and shutter speed are the same whether you use flash or not.

Older cameras defaulted to ISO 400. Newer cameras seem to adjust the ISO differently. Check the manual to see how the camera adjusts ISO. In different modes the camera behaves differently. Especially when adapted EF lenses are used. RF lenses cause the camera to act differently too.
