I have a Canon 5D Mark IV

I’m forever learning about my camera and I’m always updating settings. I do Astro photography and maybe I did something!?!?

My camera is draining my batteries (all of them) while my camera is OFF

These batteries are different ages and brands included Canon batteries.

The issue is they are losing juice while off, which makes me believe for whatever reason the camera is running something in the background while off. It’s not been a issue for over 3 years, then suddenly this…

So far I reset to factory settings

GPS is off

WiFi is off

Other that these things it works fine while shooting and does not drain abnormally quick while shooting.

ANY insight or suggestions would be so appreciated.

Thank you!

What lens is on the camera? Some third-party lenses are known to drain the battery while the camera is off.

I am using my go to Lens Tampon that I have used for 3 years. I did use a new lens this week which was a canon 200-500 zoom lens, but the go to is back on there?

If you could give more information, it would help in narrowing down the problem.

What is the full model number of the new lens and did the problem start when you put that lens on the camera? What is the full model number of the Tamron lens? Do both lenses cause the battery drain? Also is there a lens adaptor being used?

Update!!!

I restored to Factory Settings and took apart my camera for a couple of days. Removed battery, lens and memory cards and let it set for 3 days... So far that has worked... No idea why it was glitching... now just hope that fixed all my issues LOL!
