I think i understand while tamron makes lenses for canon the current lens is for a minolta all have a different mount. There may be options to convert but they may be costly and not come withour issues. Stick with a lens made for canon.

What are you trying to convert? Is this a tele converter or are you trying to convert from one brand to another. Possibly and older lens to a DSLR like the T5i.

Whatever it is, know that none of them work without issues. Some you can live with and some are too poor to even spend time on let alone money.

We got that. What type of mount is the Tamron designed to fit? You can check with Tamron as to whether they can retro-fit the lens to a Canon mount, no convertor required.

Sure it is, you just need to add them to your gallery.

And the lens cannot work for Canon *and* Nikon.

What camera did you use it on? Do you have a Canon now? Did you try to fit it?

If the contacts on the lens look the same as the contacts on a lens he knows works with the T5i, it is probably a Canon mount.

Is it this lens Tamron AF200-400mm F/5.6 LD (IF) 35mm Zoom? If it is, it was designed for film cameras so it will have a film camera mount. If it is a Canon it is an FD mount. These can be 'converted' to EF or EF-S mount which is what you need for a T5i. It is a bad idea. It is not worth the time nor the money to do.

If is was for a Nikon film camera forget it as it is even a worse idea. You and he are much better off getting the correct lens for the T5i.
