Canon 24-70mm lens won't go down to 24mm

Hello everyone, I have a Canon 24-70mm lens first generation, that I hadn't used in almost a year. I went to use it this past weekend, and the lens got to about 35mm and did not want to down any further. I gently zoomed in and out and got it to open up a little more. Any idea what it could be or approximate cost of a repair? Everything else works really good on the lens.
